How Do Models Stay So Unbelievably Thin?
Being a top model isn’t just about walking up and down the catwalk or posing in front of the camera. In order to stay thin and in great shape they spend hours exercising and sticking to strict diet and nutrition plans to make sure they always look great. This is especially true to catwalk and petite size models as their part of the industry usually demands that women are a certain size and weight.
Fitness and nutrition isn’t something a model will just dip into every now and again or whenever they feel like it. What they eat and how they exercise is a major part of their life because how they look or if they gain unnecessary weight or fat could have could be really damaging for their career.
Models not only have to make sure that they eat the right things; they also need to make sure that they do the right type of exercise too. Yoga and Pilates is a favorite exercise regime for models and has been used in the modeling industry for many years as it is an ideal way of improving muscle tone, burning calories and increasing metabolism. Not only can it help keep models slim but it is also great for improving posture, which is something a model needs to pay close attention to when they are on the catwalk or taking part in a photo shoot.
Apart from Yoga, models will also take part in high intensity cardio workouts that include short but intense burst of running, skipping, swimming or aerobics. They may also use this in combination with a range of bodyweight exercises such as squats, lunges, crunches and push ups as this really helps to increase metabolism, resulting in their them being able to burn more calories for a longer period of time, whilst also increasing muscle tone and reducing fat.
Away from exercise, models stay so unbelievably thin by making sure their diet is near perfect. The idea that a model hardly eats is nothing more than a myth. Catwalk models will sometimes eat up to 5 or 6 small meals a day, consisting of protein rich food, low carbohydrates and lots of fruit and vegetables. They will avoid processed and fatty foods such as takeaways, bread, pastas, cakes and chocolate. Not only will they eat well, they will also make sure they drink plenty of water, sometimes as much as four liters per day and they will often avoid all forms of alcohol as it not only dehydrates the skin but also slows down the body’s ability to burn calories.
Finally, a model will ensure that they always try to have a good night’s sleep and work schedule permitting, will try to get at least 9 hours of sleep per night. By getting a good night’s sleep a model is giving their body the maximum opportunity to ensure that muscles stay lean and metabolism is kept high, both of which are really important for burning calories.
Models don’t just work hard on the catwalk; they work hard off it too. Being a top model also involves a complete commitment to lifestyle, nutrition and exercise regimes.
